Here's the assignment: Working on Parameters

You might be saying, "Alright, I remember hearing about parameters but could you refresh my memory?"

No problem, here they are again:
Handshape: What does the shape of your hand look like? (CL:L, the number 20, the letter "A")
Palm Orientation: Where does the palm of your hand(s) face? (outward, inward, up, down)
Location: Where are your hands in relation to the body? (close to chest, on shoulder, on top of one another)
Movement: How do your hands move? (hands cross, wiggle, move from behind shoulder forward)
Facial Expression: What type of expression accompanies the sign? (mad, sleepy, confused)

1. Pick a new vocabulary word that we have not learned. (You may use your text, ASLPro.com, or another sign language dictionary).

2. In the comment section type the vocabulary word and the parameters of the sign.

3. Examples:

A: "BLUE"
Handshape: "B"
Palm Orientation: faces outwards
Location: In front of body, outward from chest
Movement: B hand Wiggles
Facial Expression: None

B: "Awful"
H: 8 handshape into a 5 handshape
PO: Faces Out
L: Above shoulders, away from body
M: 8 H into a 5 H, hand moves out
FE: Look of distaste, disgust

Look forward to seeing everyone's response. Also, if you aren't in the ILRC ASL Series, feel free to post a word or two that you might think is interesting for us to learn!
